ABOUT US
Okinawan Warrior Karate martial arts school is dedicated to preserving the classical combat art, teaching "lost knowledge" missing in most karate of today that has been lost over time.
Okinawan warrior methods originate before the year 1900 before the change to a modern firearms military. The most popularly used names for the two forms of the Okinawan warrior methods are TODE and TI. TI has the philosophy of self defense only.
Okinawan Warrior Karate teaches a class called TODE with the philosophy of defense of self and others, including concern for the attacker(s).
* TI (hand) (pronounced “tee” like tea) is described as the strictly indigenous/native Okinawan warrior methods.
* TODE (China hand) (pronounced “toe-day”) is described as the indigenous/native Okinawan warrior methods combined with Chinese warrior methods.
These Okinawan warrior methods of both TODE and TI are efficient requiring less muscular strength by using scientific methods of the physics principles of body mechanics and biological principles of the human body weaknesses such as vital areas. Both TODE and TI teach "lost knowledge" missing in most karate of today that has been lost over time.
In both TODE and TI, the kata changes with progressing of advanced understanding by changes of hands/arms movements, body movements, and footwork movements.
The Okinawan term for this demonstration of knowledge is busai, a karate knowledge skill level or deeper understanding martial arts IQ. Busai is very different in meaning than just the number of years of doing the same thing over and over.
Even if a person is already trained in another martial arts method, modifications with better understanding of physics principles (body mechanics) and biological weaknesses principles (vital areas) "enhances" and makes what is already known more "efficient". This is adding back in the original old warrior concepts that have been lost over time, also including regaining the lost knowledge that is contained in kata.
There are 2 types of lengths of classes:
1) continuous ongoing
2) seminar - specified time limit of a few classes or a few weeks
The classes also have age limitations on the curriculum.
Accommodations to curriculum will be made for students with disabilities or health issues as much as possible.
1. Strive for a good moral character
